Watermelon is the first book by Marian Keyes that I've read. I was very excited to read the book after seeing the reviews for it. So excited that I bought more of her books without reading one of hers first. Overall it was a good book.

With a strong cast and engaging story, "Watermelon" had real potential to delight. Unfortunately, its main character, Claire, never seems to learn from her immature mistakes. Anna Friel, a most winning and talented actress, makes Claire as appealing as possible, but I could not really warm up to a character who is a compulsive liar and who only tells the truth when goaded by her parents. Watermelon is a 2003 television film directed by Kieron J. Walsh and starring Anna Friel, Jamie Draven, Ciarán McMenamin, Sean McGinley, and Brenda Fricker.
